Islam: The Religion of All Prophets

Islam is submission to Allah, the Creator of the universe and the Disposer of its affairs, and obedience to Him through love and reverence. The basis of Islam is believing in Allah as the Creator, and that everything other than Him is His creation. He is the only One worthy of worship, with no associates. He is the only true Deity. To Him belong the best names and sublime attributes, and to Him belong absolute, flawless perfection. He neither begets nor is He begotten, and there is no equivalent or counterpart to Him. He is neither incarnated in nor immanent within any of His creatures.

Islam is the religion of Allah, the Almighty, who accepts no other religion from people, and it is the religion that Allah revealed to all prophets.

Among the founding principles of Islam is belief (Iman) in all the prophets and messengers sent by Allah to His servants to convey His commands, and to whom He revealed His Scriptures (divine books). The last of the messengers was Muhammad (peace be upon him), sent by Allah with the final divine law (Sharia) that abrogated the laws of the preceding prophets. Allah has supported him with great miracles, the greatest of which is the Holy Qur’an—the speech of Allah and the most remarkable book humanity has ever known. It is miraculous in its meaning and content, in its words and diction (eloquence), and in its prosody and versification.

In it is guidance to the truth leading to happiness in this life and the Hereafter. The Holy Qur’an has been preserved until our present day in the exact Arabic language in which it was originally revealed—no single letter has ever been changed or altered. The founding tenets of Islam additionally include belief in the angels and the Day of Judgment, when Allah resurrects people from their graves to hold them accountable for their deeds. Those who believe and do righteous deeds will be rewarded with eternal bliss in Heaven, while those who deny the message and commit wrongdoing shall be tormented in Hellfire. Furthermore, a fundamental principle of Islam is to accept whatever Allah decrees, whether favorable or unfavorable.

Muslims believe that Prophet Jesus is Allah’s servant and messenger. He is not Allah’s son, for Allah is great and cannot have a wife or a son. Allah told us in the Qur’an that He granted Prophet Jesus miracles and sent him to call his people to worship Him alone, with no partner. He also told us that Jesus did not ask his people to worship him; rather, he himself worshiped God, his Creator.

Islam is a religion congruent with common sense and rational thinking, naturally embraced by unspoiled souls. Allah has ordained Islam for His creatures as the religion of goodness and happiness for humankind. It does not discriminate one race over another or one color over another. All people are equal; no one has superiority over another except by piety and virtuous deeds.

A wise person should believe in Allah as his God, in Islam as his religion, and in Muhammad as his messenger. There are no other alternatives, as Allah will ask everyone on the Day of Judgment about their response to the divine messages. If they have believed, they will be rewarded with great attainment and supreme success; if they have disbelieved and denied the messages, manifest loss will be their recompense.

Whoever wants to embrace Islam should say:
أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وأشهد أن محمدا رسول الله
“Ash-hadu an la ilaha illa Allah, wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan Rasul Allah” (I bear witness that there is no God but Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah), knowing what it means and believing in it. With this testimony said, a person becomes Muslim, and subsequently, they should gradually acquaint themselves with Islamic legislation to conscientiously fulfill their obligations.

Messages that inspire you

Short faith-based messages that express meanings of goodness and inspiration.

Can life exist without a reason, or could this perfectly designed universe appear by chance? Who set the laws of nature and made them constant and unchanging? Who placed within every cell of your body a precise system that preserves your existence? Reason and logic cannot accept that all this exists without a Creator — indeed, it is the creation of a Great, All-Knowing, All-Powerful God.

In Arabic, we call the Creator “Allah”, which means the one true God who alone deserves worship. This word is used by all Arabs — Muslims, Jews, and Christians — to refer to the Almighty Creator. Allah is the Creator of everything; to Him all creation turns in times of hardship, and to Him they raise their prayers and hopes. He, glorified be He, does not incarnate within His creation but is distinct and separate from it. There is nothing like Him, and He has no equal. He is One, without partner, and anyone worshipped besides Him is a false god unworthy of worship.

The Creator, exalted be He, must possess every form of beauty and perfection and be free from all deficiency and imperfection. He can never be a lifeless idol, nor can He have a partner, family, or child, nor can He be in need of the very creations that He Himself brought into existence and provides for. He is perfect in His essence, attributes, and actions — self-sufficient and independent of all creation. Whoever realizes this truth knows that everything else is imperfect and false, and that Allah alone is the one true God worthy of worship.

Reflect upon the blessings of Allah upon you: He is the One who created you, provided for you, protected you in your mother’s womb, and cared for you throughout your childhood until you became who you are today. Is it not then your duty to seek how to worship and please Him? Does not gratitude require that your worship be as He has prescribed — not as your desires dictate?

Is it conceivable that Allah created us without clarifying the purpose of our existence in this world? It is impossible that the Creator would leave us without explaining why He created us, for leaving creation without revelation or messengers would be meaningless and foolish — and the Creator is far exalted above any form of purposelessness. Therefore, Allah sent His messengers to make Him known to us and to inform us of the reason for our existence, supporting them with many proofs that testify to their truthfulness. The messengers made it clear that this worldly life is a place of testing, that Allah created us to worship Him, and that whoever affirms His Oneness and obeys Him will have eternal bliss in Paradise, while whoever worships others besides the Creator or rejects faith in His messengers will face the Fire in the Hereafter. Thus, life is neither play nor vanity, but a short test whose result is either everlasting happiness or eternal misery.

Throughout history, Allah sent many prophets and messengers, each calling his people to worship Allah alone without any partners. Whenever people distorted the teachings brought by the prophets, Allah sent another messenger to bring them back to monotheism. Thus, Islam is not a new religion; it is the same faith brought by Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and all the other prophets — a faith that means submission to Allah alone in worship and obedience, and disavowal of polytheism and its followers.

True faith is to believe in all of Allah’s prophets and messengers without making any distinction among them. Those who lived in the time of Noah were believers only if they believed in him, and likewise, those who came after — in the times of Abraham, Moses, or Jesus — were believers only if they believed in them all. And today, after the mission of Muhammad ﷺ, Allah accepts no religion from anyone unless he believes in Muhammad and in all the messengers who came before him.

Every prophet sent by Allah was supported with miracles that proved his truthfulness: Moses split the sea with his staff, and Jesus healed the blind and the leper by Allah’s permission. As for Muhammad ﷺ, he was given many miracles, the greatest of which is the Qur’an — a book of unmatched eloquence and profound meaning that challenged the Arabs and all of humanity to produce something like it, yet none could. It has remained perfectly preserved, free from alteration and corruption, until this very day.

Allah has informed us in the Qur’an that the only religion He accepts is Islam, and that all other religions are false. He, exalted be He, made it clear that the previous scriptures were altered and distorted; therefore, He sent His Messenger Muhammad ﷺ to restore to humanity the truth that all the prophets before him had called to — worshipping Allah alone without any partner and rejecting everything worshipped besides Him.

Allah tells us in the Qur’an that this life is not without purpose, but behind it lies a great day — the Day of Resurrection — when all people will be brought back to life after death to be judged for their deeds. Allah says:
“Those who disbelieve claim that they will never be resurrected. Say, ‘Yes indeed, by my Lord, you will surely be resurrected; then you will surely be informed of what you did. That is easy for Allah.’” (Surah At-Taghabun, 64:7).
On that day, the believers who worshipped Allah alone will be honored with entry into Paradise and eternal bliss, while the disbelievers and polytheists will be punished in Hell as a recompense for their denial and turning away from the truth. Allah also says:
“Whoever is removed from the Fire and admitted into Paradise has indeed succeeded, for the life of this world is nothing but the enjoyment of delusion.” (Surah Aal-Imran, 3:185).
Therefore, a person should reflect upon his fate and strive to be among the people of Paradise, for the true loss is to waste one’s Hereafter.

Islam is the true religion that fulfills the spiritual and physical needs of humanity, granting peace and happiness in this world, and it is the only path that leads to success in the Hereafter. The greatest blessing Allah has promised the believer is Paradise — an eternal life without sickness, sorrow, or pain, containing what no eye has ever seen, no ear has ever heard, and no heart has ever imagined. Whoever desires true happiness and ultimate success should know that the path to it is Islam — the true religion of Allah that He has chosen for His servants.

Whoever wishes to enter Islam must testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and believe in the six pillars of faith — belief in Allah alone and worship of Him without partners, belief in His angels, belief in the divine books He revealed, belief in all His prophets and messengers such as Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Jesus, and Muhammad (peace be upon them all), belief in the Last Day with its resurrection, judgment, Paradise, and Hell, and belief in divine destiny, both its good and its bad.

Allah tells us in the Qur’an that many people reject the truth merely by following the ways of their forefathers, and that this will not be an excuse for them on the Day of Judgment. Seeking the pleasure of Allah must come before seeking the approval of people, for He is your Creator, Provider, and the One who has bestowed every favor upon you. So do not delay your decision, and do not let fear or your past prevent you from attaining the greatest blessing, for true success lies in entering Islam and becoming a servant of Allah, believing in Him. And if you fear declaring your faith openly, you may embrace Islam in your heart and keep your belief hidden until the right time comes to announce it.

If you wish to enter Islam, the matter is simple — it requires no rituals and no specific place. You only need to say the testimony of faith with understanding and conviction in your heart: “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.” By saying this, you enter Islam and begin a new chapter with your Creator, who forgives your past and grants you a great reward. After that, you learn the teachings of your faith gradually, step by step, for Islam is a clear and simple religion, free from complication.
